Patagonia's footwear department, Patagonia Footwear, is encouraging other companies to participate in the 1% For The Planet scheme.
The scheme involves businesses donating one per cent of sales to environmental groups, with the money then being used for environmental projects across the globe.
Patagonia themselves manufacture a range of eco-friendly footwear, including their Vegan Friendly range, which is made without animal bi-products, solvents that are water-based and uppers made from synthetic or natural fibers.
Furthermore, the Bly Mid Women's hiking boot (pictured) contains Eco Step - a compound that uses up to 30 per cent recycled scrap rubber.
Jonathan Pennington, UK marketing manager at Patagonia Footwear, says: "By positioning the company at the forefront of 1% for the planet, the organisation hopes to encourage members of the business community to contribute one per cent of their sales to making a tangible difference to our environment."
